More Good Fortune!

Last week, I got yet another acceptance of a pattern, this time for a little girl's dress. Being so overwhelmed already, I was going to decline. But the design is named after my baby granddaughter, and I was a little bit sentimental about seeing her name published.

So I took the advice of my friend Ellen (thanks, Ellen!) and looked for a test/sample knitter. I got several very accomplished knitters applying for the job, and I went with someone from my local knitting group. I feel I can trust her to get the job done on time, and I know she is a great knitter. Whew!
I am such a mogul -- outsourcing my work!

We just got back from a wedding in Montreal on the Labor Day weekend, and spending Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) in NYC with family.

The wedding was very nice: here's a new thing - the bride wore a beautiful burgundy red silk dress. The bridesmaids wore cream dresses with burgundy red sashes.
Is this a new trend to non-white bridal gowns? Please enlighten me!

We were also fortunate to get tickets to the closing ceremony of the Montreal Film Festival. They announced and presented the awards, and then showed the closing film, La Princesse de Montpensier, a period drama about 15th century France.
Such an elegant evening, and lots of fun!

When we arrived home on Sat. packages of yarn were waiting for me for 3 of my projects, so it's time for swatching and pattern writing and knitting.

Careful What You Wish For

Oh, gosh. It has not seriously been a month since my last post?!?
Yes it has.
(guilty face)
Here's what's been happening. I submitted quite a few designs to Creative Knitting magazine, and also one to Yarn magazine, which is Australia based.
I also submitted designs to the Sanguine Gryphon, a hand dyed yarn website.
Guess what !

They all accepted my designs !!!
Creative accepted TWO of them!
That's in addtion to the 3 Irish Girls who had already accepted 2 of my patterns.
I am incredibly thrilled and grateful that they appreciate my design efforts.

Can you guess what's coming next?
Yes -- I have to knit and write patterns for a total of 6 items - 4 of them sweaters - in 6-8 weeks.
OMG.
(takes deep breaths).

I am not an especially fast knitter - I never needed to be fast so I didn't worry about it.

Based on my rough estimates, I think I may need to knit between 8 and 10 hours a day for the next 6 weeks. Maybe I'll get faster as time goes on. Maybe my estimates are off.

Yikes.

Anyway, wish me luck. I will be needing it.
Any helpful suggestions are welcome.
